The first webinar in the EEMS “Coffee with a Researcher” webinar series will feature the OpenPATH tool and its lead developer, K. Shankari of NREL, on April 19, 2022, 12–1 p.m. MT. This webinar series is open to stakeholders, and you are encouraged to invite local government or nonprofit partners that are interested in shifting and tracking travel patterns. To attend, register for this webinar with Zoom.

OpenPATH (Open Platform for Agile Trip Heuristics) is a DOE-funded, open-source, and customizable smartphone app-based platform to facilitate the collection and analysis of travel data. It collects travel data across all travel modes (car, bus, bike, walking, etc.) for an individual, builds a travel diary, and provides a personalized travel analysis to that person. Organizations starting efforts to shift travel patterns or introduce new mobility technologies (such as biking to work or micromobility initiatives) can encourage participants to use OpenPATH to track their movements and provide insights into how these efforts impact travel behavior.

This “conversation with a researcher” will allow Clean Cities coalitions to learn about OpenPATH, offer input on potential use cases across the project types that are common for coalitions, and to identify potential opportunities (existing and future) for deploying OpenPATH in their work.
