The Alternative Fuel Life-Cycle Environmental and Economic Transportation (AFLEET) tool, developed by researchers at Argonne National Laboratory for the Clean Cities coalition network within the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy’s Vehicle Technologies Office, estimates the environmental and economic costs and benefits of alternative fuel and advanced vehicles. Using simple inputs, AFLEET lets fleet managers estimate and compare petroleum use, greenhouse gas emissions, air pollutant emissions, and cost of ownership for conventional and alternative fuel vehicles.

Join Argonne National Laboratory principal environmental scientist, Andy Burnham, to learn more about recently released updates to the AFLEET tool. Among the updates is a calculator to help stakeholders estimate the energy use and emissions impacts of public electric vehicle charging. This fills a need for information on the environmental impacts of public charging infrastructure, as funding has been made available for the deployment of public charging infrastructure as part of nitrogen oxide emission mitigation efforts.

In addition, the capability to examine the energy use and emissions of off-road equipment has been added to AFLEET. This is in response to stakeholder interest in this topic, as fleets often have both on- and off-road vehicles and want to understand the options for both. Additionally vehicle costs, maintenance costs, fuel price, and fuel economy data have been updated in AFLEET, improving the accuracy of simulations.

During the webinar, you will learn about the analysis behind these new features of AFLEET and how to navigate them successfully. You will also have to opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback.
