The Vehicle Technologies Office (VTO) has issued two Notices of Intent to make interested parties aware of its plan to issue the following Fiscal Year (FY) 2017 Funding Opportunity Announcements (FOAs):
As these are only a Notices of Intent, applications and questions are not currently being accepted for these FOAs. Prospective applicants to the FOAs should begin developing partnerships, formulating ideas, and gathering data in anticipation of the issuance of these FOAs. It is anticipated that these FOAs will be posted to the EERE Exchange website in December 2016.
FY 2017 Program-Wide FOA
The Program-Wide FOA identifies six potential areas of interest focused on reducing the cost and improving the performance of a mix of near- and long-term vehicle technologies including advanced batteries, power electronics and electric motors, lightweight and propulsion materials, advanced combustion engines, advanced fuels and lubricants, and other enabling technologies.
FY 2017 Deployment FOA
The Deployment FOA identifies two potential areas of interest that support the EERE 2016-2020 Strategic Plan and Implementation Framework Goal 1 to accelerate the development and adoption of sustainable transportation technologies, and aligns the EERE Sustainable Transportation objective to support pioneering and catalytic deployments of market-ready vehicles and alternative fuels.
VTO seeks to encourage highly-innovative, highly-leveraged, and scalable deployment projects that significantly increase the use of advanced electric drive and alternative fuel vehicles and infrastructure, as well as “smart mobility” projects that focus on transportation system-level opportunities to achieve technology-enabled highly energy efficient mobility systems.
