Joseph M. Bovenzi

BOARD MEMBER

Joe’s professional background is in urban and regional planning, with emphases in transportation, land use, and hazard mitigation/resiliency planning. He is the Program Manager for Management and Operations Planning at the Genesee Transportation Council (GTC), the Metropolitan Planning Organization for the nine-county Genesee-Finger Lakes Region. At GTC, he handles operations planning activities including development and implementation of the Regional Transportation System Management and Operations Strategic Plan, facilitation of interagency coordination committees and initiatives, updates to the federally-mandated Congestion Management Process and Regional ITS Architecture, and transportation infrastructure resiliency and adaptation planning tasks.

Prior to his time with GTC, Joe worked for the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission in Maryland and the Genesee-Finger Lakes Regional Planning Council in Rochester.

In addition to his membership on the GRCC board, Joe is a member of the board of the Upstate New York Chapter of the American Planning Association. He is a graduate of the I-95 Corridor Coalition Operations Academy and a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners. He holds degrees in Geography from SUNY Geneseo and Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada.
